When we first returned to the Dallas area last October, our primary goal was to move all of our stuff from my parent's home and place in storage and then attempt to sell my parents home. It's an older home that would need extensive work before it could be placed on the market and purchased via a loan. So our only choice was to sell the property "as is", so to speak.
We've located a buyer and had tentative plans on closing March 1st, however, we've run into additional legal issues. With this being my parent's property, attempting to coordinate everything with my brother's family, the purchaser and the title company, has been challenging for sure. We're not actual sure if this deal will go through or not...guess we'll know for sure in the next week.
Regardless of whether we sell it, at Least we finally have everything out of the old home, either in storage, or marked for a future garage sale or stuff to pitch. We've faced so many challenges to get to this point. Both of our sons and a daughter-in-law were living there in October. We had to assist one in moving to Brenham, Texas with his wife. We helped the other get moved to a North Dallas apartment. Since they couldn't be out of the house until after Christmas, we were basically in a "hurry up and wait" mode for 3 months. Ugh. The only good thing about that was 1) It's so "cheap" staying in this local RV Campground right outside of Forney, that we saved lot's of money and 2) We had ample time to spend with family and Mark had time to help get his folks moved into new assisted living and residential nursing homes.
Whew. It's such a huge relief for us to have this ordeal behind us. We had no idea how many challenges we'd face getting everyone moved out and set up. Now, if only this deal doesn't fall through, we'll be free to move on with our plans. We've not yet decided when we'll be leaving and heading North. Most likely some time in April. We'd like to spend a few weeks in Colorado before arriving in Montana for the summer.
Well, that about wraps up the latest for us. We're keeping our fingers crossed on the sale of the home!!!
