The house finally did sell, we closed on it a week ago. We've gotten so many things done in the last few months, but it seems the old To Do list just keeps on growing! Even though I'm officially 'retired' from management...I find I can't get away from To Do list. Guess after 30+ years, some habits just can't be broken. I've come to accept that I'll always continue doing some things, even those I'd rather not--whether habit or not. Anyway, our list is growing smaller.
We're still not sure when we plan to try and head out of here. We had initially targeted the first of April, but that doesn't look too promising right now, as we have a few things to do and appointments that take us into the first week of April. But, fortunately we don't have to be done, or outta here...or well, anything else on a specific day. That's what I just love about my new life. I know I'll have to work somewhere, as will Mark. But I'm no longer tied to a job that consumes my life. A job that determines in many ways what we can do and when we can do it.
Paying off all our credit cards and other bills, and paying cash for our 'home on wheels' and truck, do provide a freedom that I really wasn't expecting. Kind of like a weight lifted off your shoulders, that you really never knew you carried. Or, at least not to the extent it was bogging you down. The thought that we don't "have" to make a specific amount of money to survive is such a relief. Especially in today's day and age when the likelihood of anyone obtaining a job making the kind of money they did on a previous job is almost impossible.
The only things I miss from a 'sticks and bricks' home is: 1) Taking a long hot soaking bath once and awhile and 2) A fenced in backyard for the dogs. Other than that, we're pretty much happy as a lark in our little cocoon.
We're planning on heading to Livingston Texas for a week when we leave here. There's a wonderful little park on Lake Livingston that's just gorgeous and we're looking forward to a week there. Mark wants to do a little fishing and we'll be fairly close to Chris so we can drop by and visit them while we're at the lake. From there, we're heading to Snyder Texas so I can spend a week with my aunt, helping her out. She's one of my mom's older sisters and is in much worse shape than I realized. I'm hoping I can help her get a few things straightened out and settled before we move on.
From there we may move through Odessa, Texas. My mom was one of 11 girls, and many of them lived in Odessa. The oldes one is now 96 and lives in Odessa. I'd like to see her one last time if possible. From there? Who knows. Guess we'll figure that out when the time comes.
Well, that's about all I have for now. So, until later...~
